Who We Are
The Dahn Foundation is a non-profit organization that focuses on community outreach and social service through the lens of the practice of Dahn Yoga. The primary means of engaging in these activities has been a youth leadership program called The Phoenix Project, which is currently in its second summer of operation. The Phoenix Project gathers young people from around the country to Boston in order to combine inner transformative practices, such as yoga, martial arts, and meditation, with socially transformative work, such as cleaning up parks, teaching yoga to the elderly and youth (and other groups without the means to access yoga), renovating community centers, and offering the tools of stress reduction and emotion management to community groups and other socially-conscious non-profit organizations. The Phoenix Project has collaborated with groups such as CityYear, Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD), the SUP (Summer Urban Programs) unit of the Phillips Brooks House Association (PBHA) of Harvard University, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC), Jamaica Plains Head Start, Allianza Hispana, Spontaneous Celebrations in Jamaica Plains, the Germaine Lawrence school in Arlington, and the DCR of Massachusetts.
